Don Shipley left the family farm in Pennsylvania and dropped out of school in 1978 to join the Navy at 17 years old. I spent a couple years in Yokosuka, Japan on a ship before becoming a Navy SEAL in 1984. Various SPECWAR commands during my SEAL career, most of my time was spent at SEAL Team ONE and SEAL Team TWO. Retiring in 2003 after 24 years in the Navy, I run SEAL Training courses for young guys who aspire to become NAVY SEALs and older guys who want to know if they could have been.

Hello,
I need to know of any and all scholarship programs and grants that offer real scholarships to students that you can possibly and actually win! A scholarship that you can use to pay all school expenses.
Any ideas
I am special. Special enough, just looking for resources…
That is really too general. There are many thousands of them. Grants will go to those from low income families, usually. Scholarships range from $100 to full ride, and most schools offer dozens of them each of which has a particular purpose – for example, my school has some for single parents, some for refugees, etc., or they might be for people studying some particular subject matter. Then there are also scholarships that are given independently of the school itself, usually for having done something exemplary.
I am a sophmore in high school and am looking for a suitable military scholarship for college. However, I know of a friend who is joining the Air Force and got an ROTC, which she can then use to go to college and only has to join the air force after she gets her degree. I am very interested in this idea, but do not wish to me an engineer, but a nurse. I would like to find a military scholarship that accepts undergrad in nursing, and a four year maximum commitment after college. I know there are eight year commitments but four of those years are for the reserves, which I think will probably be deployed by the time I’m done with high school the way things are going. Please give me some ideas, or else I don’t think I’m going to college.
I found some info about getting this scholarship online in this scholarship database – colleges.mywebcommunity.org
I’ve spent countless hours looking for scholarships and all spent with no reward. It’s frustrating when all the books say that scholarships are everyone and loads of cash are wasted every year because nobody claims it. Where’s the money? I’ve looked for the above military/accounting/non-traditional student scholarships and I can’t find anything that doesn’t require me to be a low-income person or a minority. Can someone help me please??? Thanks so much!!!

Song – America The Beautiful
(Lyrics)
Oh beautiful, for heroes proved,
In liberating strife,
Who more than self, our country loved,
And mercy more than life,
America, America, may God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain devined.
And you know when I was in school,
We used to sing it something like this, listen here:
Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties,
Above the fruited plain,
But now wait a minute, I’m talking about
America, sweet America,
You know, God done shed his grace on thee,
He crowned thy good, yes he did, in a brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea.
You know, I wish I had somebody to help me sing this
(America, America, God shed his grace on thee)
America, I love you America, you see,
My God he done shed his grace on thee,
And you oughta love him for it,
Cause he, he, he, he, crowned thy good,
He told me he would, with brotherhood,
(From sea to shining sea).
Oh Lord, oh Lord, I thank you Lord
(Shining sea).

I am paid to do research as a graduate student, but all of my income technically comes from grants/scholarships/fellowships. I am doing my taxes now online, but the site I’m using won’t let me deduct my 2007 traditional IRA contributions because I don’t have any ‘earned income’. Is there any way for me to contribute to an IRA?
The payment you receive to do research is to be added to the wages line.
But, for IRA purposes, if you do not have a W-2 showing the income in box 1, it doesn’t count.
Pub 970:
Individual retirement arrangements (IRAs). You can set up and make contributions to an IRA if you receive taxable compensation. Under this rule, a taxable scholarship or fellowship is compensation only if it is shown in box 1 of your Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement. For more information about IRAs, see Publication 590.
I have found some websites online but I was wondering if there was a scholarship for having my step dad in iraq. This is the 3rd time he has went there and he recently got hurt. It was a burn on the neck from a bomb they ran over while inside a tank. I know that it doesn’t qualify for being permanently disabled but I was wondering if there was any type of scholarship that I would be eligible for about this.
Check out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). One of the questions is about military status, and one of the options is "dependant of somebody on active duty" (or something to that effect). That could get you a lot of cash. I’ve linked to the FAFSA website in the sources section.
does it depend on the branch,Personal income, and the college you go to please explain
All branches have the same as far as I know and with the GI bill added in it comes out to be like 60K. But so you know while you are in college is free and there is no reason why you can’t bust out a bachelors on your first enlistment with some hard work.
