I’m 18. I start college this fall at Coastal Carolina University. Ive never taken JROTC but i plan to take it all four years in college. I plan on joining the Air Force right after i graduate with my BS degree. Can i get any scholarships for signing intent with the military?

I have recently been accepted to Vanderbilt University Graduate School of Nursing to become an Adult/Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (Master of Science in Nursing). I do not have a BSN…this is an accelerated program in which you become an RN in the first year and the next year earn your MSN. Currently, I have a BS in Biology. Does the Air Force, Navy, or Army have a scholarship program for someone like me?

Yes we do, there’s an Army and a Navy det on Vanderbilt campus and an Air Force Det, maybe two, three miles away at Tennessee State University. You will want to talk to all three to see who can offer you the best deal. (I think you will like the Air Force lifestyle the best). You will have a four year committment to the Air Force after you graduate. . . I expect the Army and Navy to be about the same. All three branches have their contact information on the Vanderbilt.edu website.
Its a great program. I’m considering it after I retire.
Presentation of the first annual Freeman Scholarship
On February 20, 2010 a fundraising event was held in support of Canadian Forces personnel and Military Families. Over $1,000 was raised for the charity ‘Canadian Hero Fund’ during ‘Fury Fight For The Troops’, which was organized by the Eastern Ontario Fight League and CanFight Promtions (Matt Blundell & Scott Birkhof).
Founded by university students in 2009, the Canadian Hero Fund is a registered charity dedicated to assisting military families, with a focus on grassroots initiatives and youth engagement. The motto ‘Keeping Their Dreams Alive’ stands for the dreams of the families and children that are sustained through Canadian Hero Fund support programs, as well as the dreams of fallen soldiers who wanted more for future generations.

“Highway of Heroes”, was co-written and co-produced by The Trews and Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar) and was inspired by the 2006 death of Captain Nichola Goddard from The Trews’ hometown of Antigonish, NS. Canada’s Highway of Heroes, is the section of the MacDonald-Cartier freeway named to honour those who have sacrificed all in service of country. The single will be available on iTunes as of May 18th and net proceeds from sales will benefit the Canadian Hero Fund (www.herofund.ca), an organization that assists the families of Canadian military personnel through academic scholarships.

Karen U. Kwiatkowski (born 24 September 1960) is a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel whose assignments included duties as a Pentagon desk officer and a variety of roles for the National Security Agency. Since retiring, she has become a noted critic of the U.S. government’s involvement in Iraq. Kwiatkowski is primarily known for her insider essays which denounce a corrupting political influence on the course of military intelligence leading up to the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Lt. Col. Kwiatkowski has an MA in Government from Harvard University and an MS in Science Management from the University of Alaska. She has a PhD in World Politics from The Catholic University of America; her thesis was on overt and covert war in Angola, A Case Study of the Implementation of the Reagan Doctrine. She has also published two books about U.S. policy towards Africa: African Crisis Response Initiative: Past Present and Future (US Army Peacekeeping Institute, 2000) and Expeditionary Air Operations in Africa: Challenges and Solutions (Air University Press, 2001).
