On February 20, 2010 a fundraising event was held in support of Canadian Forces personnel and Military Families. Over $1,000 was raised for the charity ‘Canadian Hero Fund’ during ‘Fury Fight For The Troops’, which was organized by the Eastern Ontario Fight League and CanFight Promtions (Matt Blundell & Scott Birkhof).
Founded by university students in 2009, the Canadian Hero Fund is a registered charity dedicated to assisting military families, with a focus on grassroots initiatives and youth engagement. The motto ‘Keeping Their Dreams Alive’ stands for the dreams of the families and children that are sustained through Canadian Hero Fund support programs, as well as the dreams of fallen soldiers who wanted more for future generations.

Karen U. Kwiatkowski (born 24 September 1960) is a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel whose assignments included duties as a Pentagon desk officer and a variety of roles for the National Security Agency. Since retiring, she has become a noted critic of the U.S. government’s involvement in Iraq. Kwiatkowski is primarily known for her insider essays which denounce a corrupting political influence on the course of military intelligence leading up to the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Lt. Col. Kwiatkowski has an MA in Government from Harvard University and an MS in Science Management from the University of Alaska. She has a PhD in World Politics from The Catholic University of America; her thesis was on overt and covert war in Angola, A Case Study of the Implementation of the Reagan Doctrine. She has also published two books about U.S. policy towards Africa: African Crisis Response Initiative: Past Present and Future (US Army Peacekeeping Institute, 2000) and Expeditionary Air Operations in Africa: Challenges and Solutions (Air University Press, 2001).

I’m a graduating senior in high school and like evry other graduate, I need help paying for college. I want to be in the military so I know they can help me out. I’m going to be attending Clearwater Christian College and study Pastoral Studies and hopefully become a chaplain in the Navy. Thats my goal. The thing is, I need to pay for it in any way possible. So I was thinking maybe I could get an Army scholarship (if it’s easier), have them help pay for college, then switch over to the Navy as a chaplain. The thing is, would my rank transfer over with me? And how long would my service be to the Army before I can switch over to the Navy? Is there any other way to help pay for college and still become an officer in the Navy? If anyone could help me out and give me a clue, that’s be great.

you could apply for a scholarship without even enlisting first.
You need to be on scholarship in ROTC. Or, you can serve 4 years and use your G.I bill to pay for school a long with money that you supposedly saved.
WAI Conference Attendees Offer Their Perspectives on Military Careers
On February 25th through February 27th, 2010, the Women in Aviation International organization held their 21st annual conference; over 3,000 women and men gathered at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to celebrate the 2010 WAI Conference theme, “Aviation – It’s a Small World.” Developed in 1990, Women in Aviation, International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women throughout aviation career sectors and interests.
WAI’s year-round assistance provides networking, education, mentoring, and scholarship opportunities for all who seek careers in the aviation and aerospace industries, both women and men. Additionally, WAI strives to promote public education on historical contributions of women within the aviation industry. Looking towards the future, WAI remains fiercely dedicated to the further advancement of women in aviation. The organization’s 8,000+ membership includes a wide-range of industry representatives including astronauts, corporate pilots, maintenance technicians, air traffic controllers, flight attendants, air show performers, educators and students; through this extensive international membership network, WAI offers a diverse base for both personal and career development opportunities, particularly for women within the industry.
In an effort to optimize these networking opportunities, Women in Aviation, International began annual WAI conferences, holding the first gathering in 1990. Now, twenty years later, the WAI conferences remain a crucial hub for both career advancement and education. Each year, WAI conference attendees partake in general information sessions, seminars, and educational forums.
