I need some advice to get the ROTC scholarships for the navy or Air Force. I am a junior who has a GPA of 3.6 and I go to a prestigious New England boarding school. How hard will it be for me to get a ROTC scholarship and what can i do to help me.
You will need to apply NLT 1 Dec of your senior year in HS for a 4 year scholarship.
Your GPA is healthy. Do you play any team sports, hold any office (class treasurer, prez) organize any blood drives? We look for leadership abilities and those kind of activities display that.

With that GPA, you should get in. I think you just go to a recruiter and they will set you up. I would look a recruiter near a college campus who has familiarity with commissioning programs. If they don’t know, they will set you up with someone who can help you.
Just make sure you tell them you want to go to ROTC. Don’t let them talk you into enlisting or anything else.

You really shouldn’t have a problem (so long as your PT is up to Air Force/Navy par). It really depends, though, on what type of ROTC you’re interested in. If, say, you wanted to go to the Air Force Academy in CO or Annapolis, you need to get your butt in gear to find a government sponsor and you can select an option to receive information on scholarships. If you want to attend a civilian school, like UMass-Amherst (they have an AFROTC program (the only one I know of in the area!)) you need to speak with the ROTC program at the school. The scholarships offered by most ROTC programs are given out after the first semester of participation. However, I would strongly advise you do a little research to find an officer recruiter in your area and speak to him. They will have the answers with far more detail available for you.
